So, yesterday (as you can see in the article above), Judge Robert Lemkau issues a two-minute apology.
Katie Tagle will never see her baby boy again. Judge Lemkau put this child in harms way because he denied the restraining order. He claims he "couldn't foresee this happening." I understand we don't have crystal balls to see the future, but why did he ever deny the restraining order in the first place? If a mother approaches a judge concerned her baby is going to be murdered, shouldn't that be taken seriously? Well, no; instead she is called a liar. Would a mother really lie about threats of her infant son going to be murdered?
I think this judge needs to be held accountable for his actions. As a former preschool teacher, if I put a child at risk, you know very well I would have serious consequences for putting that child in harms way. I would have been fired. As a mother, if I purposely put my children in harms way, there will be major consequences; my children could be taken away, CPS visits, jail time, the list is huge.
This Judge Lemkau put little Wyatt in harms way. Now why should he continue to be a judge? He made a bad ruling, and he should face some sort of repercussions for that. Why does this man get to hold people's fates in his hands anymore, when he has obviously proved he can't handle making good decisions of people's lives? Shouldn't he be demoted? Shouldn't he be fired? Instead, he gets off the hook with a 2 minute apology to the mother, and he's done.
Where is the justice in THAT?

I have been following the story of the death of Baby Wyatt.
I want to see Judge Lemkau replaced so I try to keep up on postings about this story that has enraged me so much.
I heard Katie Tagel interviewed on the John and Ken Show (KFI 640 AM) yesterday and she said that Judge Lemkau READ the prepared apology without even looking at her.
This in my opinion has gone from very bad to worse. Katie when asked how this made her feel she said, I would have preferred his apology came from his heart and not just read.
Judge Lemkau has showed over and over again his insensitivity in the court room toward women.
Judge Lemkau was appointed for his sirst term, now the people have a choice because a gutsy deputy DA, James Hosking, is running against him in the June election.
Replacing Judge Lemkau will not bring Baby Wyatt back, but it may keep other children safe.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who found this story so upsetting. I heard about what happened on the KFMB 960 radio news the day after they found Baby Wyatt and the father. When they gave the quick run down about the judge denying the restraining order, it just made me sick to my stomach that Judge Lemkau could do such a thing. As you said, the more I read about the story, it just goes from bad to worse.
What gets me even more upset is him reading his apology. You can see on the video of her interview with the VV Daily Press how genuinely hurt she was by his reading of the apology.
I haven't had a chance to look into much of Judge Lemkau's history yet; so I'm glad you mentioned we will have a chance to get this guy out in June.
He has no right to be sitting on in "his court" anymore!
