Where is the JUSTICE?
A 9 month old baby was killed by his father, and then the father killed himself. The mother filed for a restraining order against the father of the baby. Judge Robert Lemkau denied Katie Tagle (mother of the baby) the restraining order - after she told the judge that the father was threatening to kill her son - and this judge called Katie a liar. 10 days after Judge Lemkau denied the restraining order, the baby's father took him for a custody visit, shot and killed 9 month old baby Wyatt, and turned the gun on himself.
So, yesterday (as you can see in the article above), Judge Robert Lemkau issues a two-minute apology.
Katie Tagle will never see her baby boy again. Judge Lemkau put this child in harms way because he denied the restraining order. He claims he "couldn't foresee this happening." I understand we don't have crystal balls to see the future, but why did he ever deny the restraining order in the first place? If a mother approaches a judge concerned her baby is going to be murdered, shouldn't that be taken seriously? Well, no; instead she is called a liar. Would a mother really lie about threats of her infant son going to be murdered?
I think this judge needs to be held accountable for his actions. As a former preschool teacher, if I put a child at risk, you know very well I would have serious consequences for putting that child in harms way. I would have been fired. As a mother, if I purposely put my children in harms way, there will be major consequences; my children could be taken away, CPS visits, jail time, the list is huge.
This Judge Lemkau put little Wyatt in harms way. Now why should he continue to be a judge? He made a bad ruling, and he should face some sort of repercussions for that. Why does this man get to hold people's fates in his hands anymore, when he has obviously proved he can't handle making good decisions of people's lives? Shouldn't he be demoted? Shouldn't he be fired? Instead, he gets off the hook with a 2 minute apology to the mother, and he's done.
Where is the justice in THAT?

I do agree that children need to learn to handle some name calling and teasing as a sort of "rite of passage." Children and teenagers need a very strong support system to help them cope with the trials of growing up, especially in the world we live in today. However, bullying is different now.
What I think is happening, is that bullying isn't the same as most people remember. I'm a child of the 80s, in my mid-twenties now, and I feel I'm caught between generations. My peers were on the verge of this technological boom, this explosion in social networking sites. With the use of technology, bullying has been taken from something one has to deal with at school, to nonstop harassment with text messages, myspace, facebook, etc. Unless a teenager turns him/herself into a complete recluse, there is almost no way to escape the torment of their peers.
Most people think of bullying as it was "back then." Kids would make fun of someone because your shoes were hand me downs, someone had freckles, and so on. But this generation of teenagers are now growing up completely absorbed in a violent, sex filled, media driven world, and with that bullying has changed as well. I believe they see much more violence and sex than we could ever imagine. When PG-13 movies are allowed to show 50 murders (think "Vantage Point"), but are rated "PG-13" because "no blood is shown during the murder," or if you flip to MTV for five minutes and see how acceptable borderline nudity and sex in general is, it brings them to a completely different playing field than the generation before did. The kids and teenagers now try to emulate what they see filled around them, to the point of destruction of other's. Their conscious of what is right and wrong is completely off base, and to an extreme most have never seen.
With that said, the WAY these children and teenagers bully their peers now is very, very different. It's much more extreme than most could ever imagine, because most didn't grow up in the world they live in now. Children and teens "gang up" on the bullied child so that EVERYONE turns on them. They become the outcast of the school with no peers to turn to for support. Kids aren't just made fun of, through these social sites and texting their told extreme things, nonstop, all day long like "You should just go die." They live in a world that violent deaths are "no big deal," and telling someone to go kill themselves is, in their minds, "acceptable behavior." Plus, these social networking sites allow kids to hide behind the computer screen and send even more cruel messages, without anyone to judge them. I'm not anti-facebook or anti-myspace, but some parents need to take much more control over if/when/and how these sites are used, especially the parents of the kids doing the bullying.
I think that even with supportive parents, children and teens can be driven into such a deep depression because the torment isn't contained to the school yard, where a child has the chance to escape the bullying when they leave school. With all these means to technology, and without much parental oversight with computer usage, children and teens can become trapped in the world of bullying. People are so quick to ask, "Where were the parents of this poor child who killed him/herself?" But where are the parents of the children who are doing the bullying?
A girl feeling the need to kill herself at 15 years old over her peers tormenting her is terrible. If some sort of anti-bullying bill is passed to help a child or teen escape the torment of the modern bullying, if it helps save a teen's life and his/her parents, and also holds other parents accountable for their children's tormenting actions, I don't see the harm.

"I WANT MY COUNTRY BACK!"-

I don't mean to go off on a rant here, but here's the bottom line, I want my country back.
I want my kids to be able to walk to the store or walk to school without being abducted by some 3-time convicted child molester. And the politically correct powers that be in this country just can't seem to get over themselves with "CAN'T WE JUST HELP THIS PERSON!" No! You can't. But they're let loose to prey on more children.
I want my kids back. I want my country back.
I don't agree with everything this President does. I've never agreed with anything 100% that any President has done or said.
You know, I was very young during the Vietnam War. So I probably missed that thing by a hair. I don't know whether I would have agreed with that or not at the time. I was too stupid to have an opinion at that point and time even though I thought I did.
I want my country back.
I want some semblance of respect for authority, whether I agree with it all or not.
I want the Boy Scouts to be "boy" scouts, not boy and "we think she's a girl" scouts. I want Girl Scouts to be "girl" scouts not Girl Scouts and "Bruce."
I want my country back.
I want to be able to wake up in the morning knowing that I can walk outside without some gang-banger on parole taking my life.
Or being able to go down and purchase a car without having to worry about you know 90% of the parts being made overseas in some sweatshop.
I want my politicians, when they finally do get my vote, to do what the hell they said they were going to do in the first place.
I want the Abramoff's of the world to be labeled what they…nothing more than organized crime in a better suit.
I want the Hollywood elite to make movies to entertain me. Not use their celebrity to sway me politically one way or the other.
Quite honestly, if you're a has-been-pseudo-celebrity I want you to go away quietly, so that I can remember you fondly through your "artiste work" that's left in the archives.
I want people to say something and when they say something look at me in the eye. And mean what they say. Not say what they think I want to hear. And then do what they want to later politically or any other way.
I want to be able to go out and work and make a decent wage and buy a home. Half the people that are listening to me right now can't even afford to buy a house unless they're working three jobs.
And I want America to be America. All of those opportunities, all of those things that made her great, I want those returned to the forefront. If you want to come to this country we welcome you with open arms. We simply ask that you abide by our laws. I don't want you to snub your nose at our laws, then take advantage of our opportunities, and then cling to the constitution most of which you can't even read because you don't speak the language.
I want us to secure our borders because the country is worth securing. The people that live here are worth protecting.
I want my country back. I want my children back.
I want some semblance of what this country used to be.
It's worth protecting. It's worth defending.
I don't recognize this country anymore.
Not politically, not philosophically, not spiritually.
Whether you like it or whether you don't God was a part of building this great nation. To remove him is to take away the very foundation of what this country was all about.
I don't care about your political correctness!
I don't want to know your sexual preference!
I could care less about all of that. Stop making it the headline of the day!
That's not America.
I want my country back!
And the only way I'm ever going to be able to get this country back is if I reach out to the brothers and the sisters that all feel the same way and we say "Hell No! You can't have our country."
It's not for sale! Take the price tag off this country!
Take the price tag off the heads of our children!
Stop it already!
The politically-correct-psychobabble-hug-a-tree-experts ; You are not qualified to release sex offenders back into our neighborhoods.
The southern border, more than any other border, needs to be secured tomorrow. For all those that wish to come to this country to take advantage of her opportunity, to live under a constitution a living document that breathes in and out just like you do, this country is not for sale.
I should know. I'm one of the owners. You can't sell it without my permission.
